This document will help explain how to transfer files from a computer to your TN.net account.
First, you must have a computer that is connected to the internet and have an FTP client installed (these instructions are written for the popular client called WS_FTP LE©, but the instructions will also help if you're using a different client.) Second, you must know your login and password for your TN.net account. Finally, you need to know the name and location of the file that you want to transfer.
The first time you log in, click the "New" button and enter the following information. The computer will remember the settings in the future so that you don't have to enter them each time.
-
Profile Name: ThrillNetwork.net
Host Name/Address: thrillnetwork.net
Host Type: Auto Detect
User ID: coastersite.thrillnetwork.net
Password: (your password here)
Note: You need to know your "TN.net login" to type in your user id. You MUST type your user id exactly as shown with all periods or it will not work. Your user id will be of the form:
<websitename>.thrillnetwork.net
Example: CoasterSite would be: coastersite.thrillnetwork.net

Below is some example screenshots...
The second screenshot is from the "Advanced" tab, where you may need to set it if you are using Cable or DSL, or if you are behind a firewall. If you continue to have problems connecting (not logging into) to ThrillNetwork.net, you need to contact the people responsible for the Firewall, Cable, or DSL connection.
NOTE: Press "Apply" before going onto other tabs to save your information. The configuration comes from WS_FTP Pro 6.02, which is similar, but may have some different buttons and configuration options.
After entering the profile, click on the "Apply" button to save the information. Next, click on "Connect" to connect to the remote computer. In the future, you can quickly find the profile by starting to type "ThrillNetwork.net" in the Profile Name field and the information will be automatically entered for you. You will need to enter your password each time (if you don't check the "Save Password" button.)
You will now be placed into your home directory. You can now upload files (move them from your computer to your network directory) and download files (move them from your network directory to your local computer.)
The list of files on the left are files on your local computer, and the files on the right are files on your network directory. You can move to a different directory and work with those files by:
- Double clicking on a folder icon (shows the files in that folder)
- Double clicking on the green arrow at the top of the list (shows the files in the "parent" folder)
- Clicking on the path name above the list of file names and typing a new path
- Clicking on the ChDir button to the right of the list of file names and typing a new path
In general, to do something to a file, select its name from the list of files and click one of the buttons beside the list. To move a file from one computer to the other, click on the appropriate arrow button. To copy or delete multiple files at once, first select them by clicking on their names while pressing the CONTROL key.
You can configure WS_FTP so that it knows which directories you prefer to use when you first start the program. Disconnect from the server (click the "Close" button if you aren't already disconnected) and edit the ThrillNetwork.net profile again (you may need to click the "Connect" button.) Click on the "Startup" tab. Enter the preferred starting directory's path into the "Initial Local Folder" field. Enter the preferred remote directory's path into the "Initial Remote Site Folder" field.
